  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups rolled oats
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 14 tablespoons unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter and mix in apples, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, water, and salt. Cook until apples soften (about 5–7 minutes) and set aside.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine rolled oats, all-purpose flour, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt. Blend in cut pieces of butter until crumbly.
  4. Press half the oatmeal mixture into a greased baking dish, layer with apple filling, then top with remaining oatmeal mixture.
  5. Bake for about 50 minutes until golden brown. Allow cooling before slicing.
