Ingredients
- 1 pound dried lasagna noodles
- 1 pound ground beef (or ½ beef and ½ mild Italian sausage)
- 1 medium yellow onion, finely chopped
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 (28-ounce) cans crushed tomatoes
- 16 ounces whole milk ricotta cheese
- 6 cups grated mozzarella
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F.
- Cook lasagna noodles in salted boiling water until al dente, about 8 minutes. Drain and rinse under cold water.
- In a large skillet, brown ground beef with onions and garlic until softened, about 8 minutes.
- Stir in tomato paste and crushed tomatoes; season with salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and sugar. Simmer for 15-20 minutes until thickened.
- In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese with egg, Parmesan, basil (optional), salt, and pepper.
