  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup corn syrup
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 1/2 cups puffed rice cereal
  • 1 cup chopped roasted salted peanuts
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Prepare an 8×8 inch baking pan by lining it with parchment paper.
  2. For the nougat layer, combine granulated sugar, corn syrup, butter, and peanut butter in a saucepan over medium heat until melted. Stir in puffed rice cereal and mix well.
  3. For the caramel layer, melt brown sugar, corn syrup, butter, and heavy cream in another saucepan over low heat until slightly thickened (about 5 minutes).
  4. Spread half of the nougat mixture in the prepared pan, pour half of the caramel on top, sprinkle with chopped peanuts, then add remaining nougat.
  5. Pour remaining caramel over the top and refrigerate for at least two hours until set.
  6. Melt milk chocolate chips and pour over cooled layers; allow to set before cutting into squares.
