Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In one bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time followed by sour cream, lemon juice, and zest. Gradually mix in dry ingredients.
  3. For the cream cheese swirl: Beat cream cheese with sugar, egg yolk, and lemon juice until smooth.
  4. Pour half of the batter into the loaf pan. Dollop half of the cream cheese mixture over the batter and swirl gently. Add remaining batter and repeat with the rest of the cream cheese mixture.
  5. Bake for 55-65 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
