Description

One-Pan Sweet and Tangy BBQ Sausage Rice is a quick, flavorful meal that brings together smoky sausage, tender rice, and a deliciously sweet-tangy barbecue sauce—all in one pan!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb smoked sausage (kielbasa or andouille), sliced
  • 1 1/2 cups uncooked long grain rice
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 1/2 cups chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear sausage slices until browned; remove and set aside.
  2. In the same pan, sauté onions for about 5 minutes until translucent. Add garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
  3. Stir in the uncooked rice and toast for 2–3 minutes until lightly golden.
  4. Pour in chicken broth and barbecue sauce; stir to combine. Return the sausage to the skillet.
  5. Bring to a simmer, cover, reduce heat to low, and cook for 18–20 minutes until rice is tender.
  6. Let sit covered for an additional 5 minutes before fluffing with a fork.
