Ingredients

  • 2 ribeye steaks (1 lb each), cubed
  • 16 oz sliced mushrooms
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 small white onions, sliced
  • 1 cup amber ale
  • 6 cups beef stock
  • 4 tablespoons flour (divided)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, season cubed steak with salt, pepper, and 2 tablespoons of flour.
  2. Heat butter and oil in a large pot over medium-high heat; brown steak cubes for about 3 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same pot, sauté onions and mushrooms until golden (10-12 minutes).
  4. Stir in garlic and add the ale; simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. Whisk in remaining flour, then gradually add beef stock while stirring. Simmer uncovered for 20-22 minutes.
  6. Return the browned steak to the pot; let sit for 5 minutes.
  7. Garnish with parsley and thyme before serving.
