Stuffed shells are a comforting Italian-American favorite, perfect for weeknight dinners or special gatherings. These jumbo pasta shells are generously filled with creamy ricotta and mozzarella cheeses, topped with rich marinara sauce, and baked to bubbly perfection.
Ingredients
- Jumbo pasta shells (20-25)
- Ricotta cheese (15 oz)
- Shredded mozzarella cheese (2 cups)
- Grated Parmesan cheese (1/2 cup)
- Fresh basil (1 handful)
- Marinara sauce (24 oz jar)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook jumbo pasta shells according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a bowl, combine ricotta, 1 cup of mozzarella, Parmesan, chopped basil, salt, and pepper until blended.
- Fill each shell with the cheese mixture using a spoon or piping bag.
- Spread half of the marinara sauce in a baking dish. Arrange filled shells in a single layer on top and pour remaining sauce over them.
- Sprinkle remaining mozzarella on top. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes; uncover and bake for an additional 10 minutes until bubbly.
