Description

Indulge in the creamy delight of Spanish flan, a traditional dessert that combines smooth custard with a luscious caramel topping. This easy-to-follow recipe transforms simple ingredients into a show-stopping treat perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (divided)
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a saucepan, melt ½ cup of granulated sugar over medium heat until golden brown to create caramel. Pour the caramel into a baking dish or individual ramekins.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Pour the custard mixture over the set caramel.
  5. Place the dish in a larger pan filled halfway with hot water (water bath). Bake for about 60 minutes or until set.
  6. Remove from the oven and let cool before refrigerating for at least four hours.
  7. To serve, run a knife around the edges and invert onto a plate.
