Description

Indulge in the delightful experience of Tres Leches Cake, a traditional Mexican dessert that promises to wow your taste buds with its unique flavor profile and moist texture. This cake is soaked in a rich blend of three types of milk—evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk, and whole milk—resulting in an irresistibly tender sponge that melts in your mouth. Topped with a light and fluffy whipped cream, and optionally adorned with fresh strawberries or a sprinkle of cinnamon, this dessert is perfect for any occasion—from festive celebrations to casual family dinners. Its impressive appearance and decadent taste make it a standout choice that will leave everyone asking for seconds.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 5 large eggs
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (divided)
  • 1/3 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/4 cup whole milk
  • 1 pint heavy whipping cream
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar or powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Ground Cinnamon and/or Fresh Strawberries

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In one bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In another bowl, beat the eggs until pale; gradually add 3/4 cup sugar while continuing to beat until fluffy.
  4. Mix in whole milk and vanilla extract; gently fold in dry ingredients.
  5. Pour batter into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish and bake for 30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Cool completely, poke holes throughout the cake, then soak with a mixture of evaporated milk, condensed milk, and additional whole milk.
  7. Whip heavy cream with remaining sugar until soft peaks form; spread over the soaked cake and chill before serving.
