  • 1/2 cup neutral oil
  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup cornstarch
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1/31/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons tamari or soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons crushed ginger
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon Sriracha (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest

Instructions

  1. Press and dry the tofu; cut it into 1-inch nuggets.
  2. Mix flour, cornstarch, salt, and garlic powder in a bowl; gradually add water to create a runny batter.
  3. Coat the tofu nuggets with the batter.
  4. Heat oil in a skillet; fry tofu pieces until golden brown (5–6 minutes per side). Drain on paper towels.
  5. Combine all sauce ingredients in a bowl; cook in the skillet until thickened (about 5 minutes).
  6. Add fried tofu to the sauce; stir gently to coat.
  7. Serve over steamed rice or your choice of base.
