Ingredients
- 16 oz tofu
- 1/2 cup neutral oil
- 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup cornstarch
- 1 cup orange juice
- 1/3–1/2 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons tamari or soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 2 teaspoons crushed ginger
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon Sriracha (optional)
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon orange zest
Instructions
- Press and dry the tofu; cut it into 1-inch nuggets.
- Mix flour, cornstarch, salt, and garlic powder in a bowl; gradually add water to create a runny batter.
- Coat the tofu nuggets with the batter.
- Heat oil in a skillet; fry tofu pieces until golden brown (5–6 minutes per side). Drain on paper towels.
- Combine all sauce ingredients in a bowl; cook in the skillet until thickened (about 5 minutes).
- Add fried tofu to the sauce; stir gently to coat.
